NICOLE BARCLAY THERAPY

About me and my therapy practice
Finding the Right Therapist
Finding the right therapist can make all the difference. Reaching the point where you want support, and finding someone you trust, takes courage. I offer a free 20-minute consultation so you can see if my way of working feels safe, genuine, and supportive. You can expect a warm, compassionate space to explore your thoughts and feelings, held with care, honesty, and curiosity. I bring a flexible yet philosophical approach, often interested in what it means to be oneself, to be human.

Working with Individuals, Relationships, and Groups
I work with individuals, couples, and other relationships, including parent and adult child, friendships, and working partnerships. I support each person to speak from their own experience, feel heard, and reflect on their role within the relationship.

In our work together, I pay attention to relational patterns, name dynamics that may be keeping you stuck, and explore the impact of responsibility, social expectations, and wider cultural influences on the way we relate. I also work with groups, drawing on my training to create a safe and supportive space where multiple voices can be heard. Reflection, awareness, and collaborative action are always guided at a pace that suits those involved.

Honesty, Challenge, and Connection
Therapy is not about making life easier. Life is often complex, unfair, and challenging. Instead, it is about engaging with your experiences more honestly, with greater clarity, and with deeper connection to yourself and others. You will be listened to carefully, and sometimes challenged, but always with care and respect.

Together, we explore how past experiences, expectations, and established patterns shape how you relate, and how these patterns affect your relationships. I support each person to speak from their own experience, be heard, and reflect on their role, encouraging accountability and insight in a collaborative way.

Diversity and Lived Experience
I bring both professional training and lived experience. I am attentive to difference and diversity, including cultural background, neurodiversity, LGBTQ+ identities, and non-traditional relationship structures. Therapy with me is collaborative, real, and paced with care. My hope is to offer a space where your experiences are understood, affirmed, and respected.

Change, Awareness, and Self-Discovery
You may come to therapy with doubts, and that is entirely understandable. Change can be difficult, and it takes time. I will walk alongside you as you face difficult truths, strengthen connection, and develop greater awareness of yourself and your relationships.

Therapy can help you identify outdated patterns and beliefs, find clarity, and choose ways of relating that feel authentic to you. At other times, it is about learning to tolerate and accept, so you can live more fully in the ways you choose.
